Following the successful OurCity2030 Pathway into Arts & Culture in 2024, Big Team and Babbasa have teamed up again in 2025 to offer opportunities for young people from underrepresented backgrounds who wish to enter the Arts and Culture sector, and specifically gain experience working on festival projects.

Big Team CIC was established in 2019 as a proactive response to the lack of representation within the creative industries.  The core aims of Big Team are to create visible, supported and inclusive pathways into the creative industries, encouraging a lasting and tangible legacy of diversity and inclusion in the South-West and beyond.

Babbasa is an award-winning, Bristol-based, social enterprise, which supports young people from ethnic minority and low income households to achieve their career aspirations. They also lead on the OurCity2030 initiative, which launched in 2022 and specifically aims to support at least 1 young person from each low-income household to progress towards a median salary role by 2030.

The Pathways programme is a key part of the OurCity2030 initiative, providing opportunities for young people from low-income households to gain paid work in the sectors they wish to get into. The 2024 Pathway into Arts & Culture saw 9 young people on 3-month paid internships, running May-Oct 2024.

This 2025 Pathway provides an opportunity for organisations within the Festivals sector to come together to offer work placements to some of Bristol's most underrepresented young people.

It officially launched on 17th February at an Insight Day, held at Big Team’s office in St Werburgh’s, and provides a further 9 opportunities for young people to get paid internships in the sector.

If your organisation would like to get involved in the OurCity2030 initiative, please register your interest at www.ourcity2030.com
